Bio
Carol Leven has been described as "a wonderful talent and a really fine singer." Known also as a composer and arranger, she has worked extensively in New York City for more than a decade. She began her career in musical theater and toured with several summer stock companies. Leven has since studied with some of the greatest vocal legends, including Sheila Jordan, Mark Murphy, Terri Thorton, and Anne Marie Moss.
Breaking down musical boundaries is where Leven’s musical depth is most apparent. Innovative arrangements of material as varied as Motown classics, the Great American Songbook, top 40 pop music, and blues and jazz standards allows listeners to open their ears and minds to music that is always hip—no matter the genre. Add to that the fresh melodies and witty lyrics of Leven’s own compositions and the musicianship of this vocalist provide listeners with an enjoyable, intimate, vibrant, and truly original experience.
